October 28, 2014 JESSE MATTHEW FORMALLY CHARGED: The warrant was served to Matthew at the Albemarle Charlottesville regional jail for a 2005 sexual assault investigation. On Friday, Matthew will have his first hearing via video conference from the jail. LOCAL ORGANIZATION WANTS REGISTRAR REMOVED: Representatives of the Jefferson Area Tea Party are calling for the immediate removal of Charlottesville City Registrar Sheri Iachetta. Iachetta faces six felony charges after being accused of misuse of public funds and assets. FATAL POLICE STOP ON I-64: According to an independent investigation, 42-year-old Dennis Hoke shot himself during a traffic stop on Interstate 64 in Augusta County earlier this month. Virginia State Police say Hoke shot himself while he was pulled over by a trooper. NEW HOME FOR LOCAL ORGANIZATION: Meals on Wheels of Charlottesville and Albemarle will now serve its more than 270-meals per week from its new location on Rose Hill Drive, off of Preston Avenue. The organization has served more than one million hot meals in the area since 1977. MOCK ELECTION AT WESTERN ALBEMARLE HIGH: Seniors are giving their classmates a taste of the real world with a mock election. The seniors are campaigning in the high school on behalf of the candidates for the Virginia Senate race and 5-th District Congressional race.
