Chance Encounter with Zac Efron

Zac Efron is one of the sexiest men in America. Plenty of girls would do anything for the chance to accidentally run into the studly bachelor in real life. Well, I got that chance. And I made it awkward.

Zac Efron is one of the sexiest men in America. He also has a new movie out called "The Lucky One" that's sure to be a hit. Plenty of girls would do anything for the chance to accidentally run into the studly bachelor in real life. Well, I got that chance. And I made it awkward.

A couple of years ago I was grabbing a bite to eat one evening at an awesome historic pub called Miller's in Georgetown. My friend and I were sitting in a booth near the corner when I caught eyes with a handsome guy in the booth across from us. He looked just like Zac Efron.

Here's where things get goofy. My mom loves Zac Efron. She thinks he's just darling. A few days earlier I had watched High School Musical with her and all she talked about was Zac's pretty blue eyes. I thought it was funny that right in front of me was a guy who looked just like Zac Efron. It never crossed my mind that this could actually BE was totally out of context, I was in a pub in DC, and I just thought it was a cute guy who bared a striking resemblance to Mr. Efron. I imagined that he must get all the ladies around town.

Here's where things get weird. I decided to try to snap a picture of the Zac Efron "doppelganger" to send it to my mom and see if she agreed the fella looked like him. Yes, I will say that it was border-line creepy of me to try to sneak a picture of a stranger eating dinner, but my intentions were purely innocent, I swear. I lifted my camera-phone, he saw me... and ducked.

He ducked like he was under attack and taking cover. "Oh my God, " I thought, "that's really Zac Efron and now he thinks I'm some creepy stalker fan who's going to sell a pic like the paparazzi." I'm sure he thought he could finally have some peace outside of Hollywood until I came along.  He then switched seats with his dining partner so he was facing the wall.

I felt like the biggest, awkward, spaz. Between being in the news, and being Miss Virginia, I've encountered plenty of celebrities and always felt totally normal with people. I've never been star-struck and always treat people like people... because we all are. I felt so bad...

Not only did I most likely ruin his dinner, but I also missed a great opportunity. I had recently shaved my head to raise money for kids with cancer and was in town to visit a local hospital. Had I known it was actually Zac Efron, I would have sent a note over with a waiter telling him about the kids I was about to visit and giving him the hospital's contact info in case he had any time and wanted to come too.

But nooooooooo, I was awkward.

So that's my story. Not sure what he was in town for, but it was definitely him, and I definitely was not cool.
