CureSearch Charlottesville!

If you know anything about me, you know that I am always championing charities that help fight pediatric cancer. So, when the folks from CureSearch asked me to emcee their fundraiser walk in Charlottesville, I was honored and on board. Here's why CureSearch is important; and how you can join the mission.

If you know anything about me, you know that I am always championing charities that help fight pediatric cancer. From going 48 hours without sitting or sleeping to raise over $4.1 million dollars at Penn State's THON... to shaving my head bald to raise $50,000 and stand in solidarity with the children fighting the disease with the St. Baldrick's Foundation... "Kids" and "cancer" should never be in the same sentence and I want to do my part to make that happen.

That being said, obviously when the folks from CureSearch asked me to emcee their fundraiser walk in Charlottesville, I was honored and on board. Here's why CureSearch is important; and how you can join the mission.

CureSearch for Children’s Cancer is a national non-profit foundation whose mission is to fund and support children’s cancer research and provide information and resources to all those affected by children’s cancer.  The foundation supports clinical trials research at more than 175 local hospitals across the United States, including UVA.

Nowadays you'd be hard-pressed to find anyone who's life hasn't been impacted in some way by cancer. Yesterday I had lunch with one local woman, Annie, who knows that all too well. Annie's daughter lost her battle with a form of pediatric cancer in 2010. A few months after her death, Annie attended a CureSearch walk in Delaware and was so touched by the support there, she decided to start one in Charlottesville the next year. It raised over $75,000!

Join us for the second annual CureSearch Walk Saturday April 28th from 9am-12pm at The Park on Massie Rd as we celebrate and honor children from the Charlottesville area who have been affected by children’s cancer. This very special day will include prizes, music, food, and fun activities for the entire family! Please encourage your friends and family to join us as we raise funds to reach the day when every child with cancer is guaranteed a cure!

Register today and support children’s cancer research!

"Kids" and "cancer" should never be in the same sentence. Agree? Awesome! See you at the CureSearch walk!
