Madonna vs. Gaga: Pop Icon Feud!

A serious rivalry is heating up between two of the world's most powerful and popular entertainers. Here's a break-down... and my take!

A serious rivalry is heating up between two of the world's most powerful and popular entertainers.

If you haven't heard, Madonna has thrown down the gauntlet on Lady Gaga; claiming her music and style are "reductive"... and a little too similar to her own.

At a recent concert in Tel Aviv, the Material Girl went above and beyond to take a jab at the "Born this Way" star.

Watch how Madonna performed a mash up of her hit "Express Yourself" and Gaga's "Born This Way"... (start around the 1:15 mark)

It's hard to argue their similarity! The first time I heard "Born this Way" I was in a loud venue and honestly thought it was a re-mix of "Express Yourself". Gaga is obviously very influenced by Madonna. But is she plagiarizing her idol, or is imitation the sincerest form of flattery?

Gaga responded to Madonna's stunt with a message at her own concert saying "It sometimes makes people feel better about themselves, to put other people down, or make fun of them, or maybe make mockery of their work - and that doesn't make me feel good at all."

Gaga is passionately outspoken about squashing bullying so it was a bold statement to liken Madonna to a bully.

Both artists are trailblazers, known for pushing boundaries and ruffling feathers with their lyrics and their fashion. They have an un-apologetic way about them,  but also a passion for charity.  They're both talented, confident, and dynamic entertainers. I don't mind that there's two of them!

Lady Gaga is no a threat to Madonna. There's plenty of room for both! Before the jabs began, both ladies shared the stage in a hilarious Saturday Night Live skit. Let's go back to those times. Women should lift each other up. Madonna is a trailblazer, and part of blazing a trail means being supportive of those who follow you.

And that's my take!
