I don't know about you, but my Facebook has been aflutter with engagement announcements as friend after friend popped the question over the holidays. It seems like the Christmas and New Years Eve proposal trend rings true in Hollywood as well!
Queen of Soul Aretha Franklin got engaged to her longtime friend and confidant, William "Willie" Wilkerson (what a name!) over the holidays. I thought it was funny that when the 69 year old singer made the announcement, she reassured her fans that she's not pregnant. Franklin's spokesperson says the couple hopes to get married on a Miami beach later this year. Especially after her recent health scares, I hope she can live happily ever after with Willie. This will be her third marriage.
awww!
Also engaged, rocker and American Idol judge Steven Tyler! He's hoping the third time is the charm as well, proposing to model Erin Brady over the holiday week. The two have been dating since 2006.
Isn't she pretty!?
Continuing with the trend, People Magazine's 2005 "Sexiest Man Alive" Matthew McConaughey proposed to longtime girlfriend Camila Alves on Christmas day tweeting this photo:
The couple have two adorable kids together!
I hope they all have a fairytale wedding and marriage... but not everyone's holidays were merry and bright...
Pop culture icons Katy Perry and Russell Brand ended their 14 month marriage over the holidays. Brand, an actor, comedian and British reality-TV star filed for divorce from the singer citing "irreconcilable differences". This comes after rumors of trouble between the two.

I don't want to end this blog on a bad note though...
It wasn't exactly a holiday proposal, but it's close enough... Britney Spears got engaged this December to her beaux Jason Trawick. I always root for Miss Spears and I hope she's finally found happiness :)
