Game 7 of the Stanley Cup Finals: Boston vs Vancouver
It's no secret I'm a hockey fan... here's my take on which team I think will be drinking from Lord Stanley's Cup after game 7 tonight:
First of all, what a series!!! Playoffs are always so mind blowing. Everything is faster, harder, sharper, tougher, and much more intense. There have been injuries, finger-biting, nail-biting close games, followed by mind-boggling blow outs. Dan Schutte and I have been hoping all playoffs long that we would see a Game 7 in the Stanley Cup Finals. I may be biased, but I can't think of a more exciting event in sports.
As an ice hockey goalie myself, I always over-analyze the goaltending. In this series, I think the men between the pipes have made all the difference. Tim Thomas of Boston has stood on his head and made plenty of incredible saves. Win or lose, he's the MVP of the series. Vancouver's net-minder, Roberto Luongo, on the other hand, has been wildly inconsistent. He's been pulled twice and his losses have been blow-outs.
Neither team has been able to win on the road, but Boston's losses have been just a puck bounce away from a win; tight, one-goal games. The Canucks, however, were outscored a combined 17-3 in their losses in Bean Town.
Fans can say all they want about Luongo feeling more comfortable in Canada... and yeah, it would be a pretty story for him to win Olympic Gold and the Cup in the same arena... but if you want to win the Cup, you have to be able to hold it together on the road. In summary: My $ is on #30 TT and the Bruins! But I've been rooting for the Bruins ever since the Caps got knocked out in the second round and I think they deserve to hoist the Cup
The only downfall of the Bruins winning is that they will win as the away team. It's always more fun to see a champ crowned at home. I'm pulling for the Bruins, but either way, it will be one exciting night!
