If you're like me, then you're probably pretty excited about the prospects of fireworks galore over the next day. I've loved fireworks since I was a little kid and I still look forward to this holiday every year!
If you're thinking about where to go to see these lights in the sky, I have a few recommendations that I'll list below.
Of course there's the big display at McIntire Park in Charlottesville. This gets started "one minute after dark," or between 9:15 p.m. and 9:30 p.m. There's also a fireworks show in Scottsville at Dorrier Park by the James River. This will start around 9:30 p.m. as well. The "July 4th Jubilee" is going on at Wintergreen Resort in Nelson County and this features a fireworks show, too. You can catch them just after dark around 9:30 p.m. Barboursville will also put on a fireworks show at the community park, lighting up the night sky around 9:30 p.m. Then there's the "Picnic in the Park" that takes place in Orange by the airport. You can spend the afternoon there, then watch the fireworks go off after dark. Last, but definitely not least, there will be a fireworks show at Graves Mountain Lodge in Madison County starting shortly after 9 p.m.
If you decide to stay closer to home and do your own fireworks, stay safe!
Happy 4th of July to everyone,
Brantley
