A Soggy Fall Season

It's been a rain soaked November and December. Let's take a look back at the numbers.

Almost one foot of rain has made it into the rain gauge at the McCormick Observatory since November 1st. Let's take a closer look at the numbers at McCormick, CHO airport, and from our Weather Watcher Larry in Madison.

Lets start in Madison... Larry has reported 2.64" of rain through the first 10 days of December. Not too bad but nothing compared to some C'ville numbers. At CHO airport... 3.50" so far for the month of December. Keep in mind the "normal" precip for the entire month is 3.26".

And finally McCormick Observatory at UVa... 4.50" for the month of December. That puts us at a surplus of 1.24" and it's only December 10th.

Looking at the McCormick numbers, our Year To Date rainfall deficit is all but "zeroed". If today was the last day of December, we would finish the year with a YTD deficit of only 0.80".

Though we have had our flooding concerns across Central Virginia in the past few weeks, I think it would be nice to finish the year with a zero for our rainfall deficit.
