This morning several of us Newsplexians ran in the 4 the wounded 5k to help veterans who have been injured in Iraq and Afghanistan. Not only did they raise over 70-thousand dollars, It was such a great day for a run... Not too hot, not too cold! Temperatures were in the mid 60s under bright sunny skies (and the dew points were low!) Even though the weather was great.. I didn't do so great! For those of you who haven't hear yet... I took a tumble! Tara Wheeler, Carter Johnson and I made it through the first 2 1/2 miles no problem. We even tackled the crazy terrain through the woods, but once we reached the flat surface I had trouble. I tripped on my own two feet and did a stunt double somersault into a few bushes! I popped right up and was only left with a scraped up leg and a bruised ego. We all still finished the race, and I am now sporting some battle wounds! I am going to take the day off from running, but Monday's forecast is another round of sunshine and temperatures in the mid 80s. That will have me back out pounding pavement, and I'm going to cross my fingers I don't fall again!
Cheers for now,
Melanie
