After picking up three to four inches of rain last weekend, area rivers have been running high. The water will likely continue to rise as several inches of rain will fall again late Wednesday night and into Thursday. Here's a summary of how this round of rain will affect some of the rivers in central Virginia.
For the James River at Scottsville:
*A flood warning is in effect from late Thursday evening until Saturday morning.
*Minor flooding is forecast.
*The river is forecast to crest near 21.5 feet by early Friday morning, which is 1.5 feet above flood stage.
*The river will fall below flood stage by Friday before midnight.
For the James River at Bremo Bluff:
*A flood warning is in effect from Thursday afternoon until Saturday.
*Moderate flooding is forecast.
*The river is forecast to crest near 27.5 feet by early Friday afternoon, which is 8.5 feet above flood stage.
For the Rappahannock River at Remington:
*A flood warning is in effect from Thursday afternoon until further notice.
*Minor flooding is forecast.
*The river is forecast to crest near 19.1 feet by early Friday morning, which is 4.1 feet above flood stage.
