After a summer that brought us plenty of days in the 90s and even 100s, we have really gotten a break from the heat over the past few weeks. In fact, we haven't hit 90º or hotter since the final week of August. The current trends will keep extreme heat away from central Virginia for the last few days of the season.
A series of cold fronts will be impacting Virginia over the next few days, keeping clouds and wet weather in our forecast. Scattered showers and thunderstorms are possible on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, with a few showers possibly lingering into Friday morning. With the extra clouds in the sky, temperatures will be kept to near or slightly below the seasonal averages. Fall officially arrives at 5:05 in the morning on Friday. For the first weekend of fall, skies will be clearing, with temperatures in the mid 70s for most areas. Of course, lots of folks will be flocking to Scott Stadium on Saturday afternoon to watch UVa play Southern Mississippi. Right now the forecast is looking good, with a kickoff temperature expected to be near 75º!
