Yes, you heard correctly. We're finally in for a subtle "reminder" of winter for the middle of the week.

After a sunny, mild day today, a weak cold front will move through the area on Wednesday. Attached to this front is a little "wave", or disturbance in the atmosphere. This wave is nothing more than a pocket of upward motion that will produce clouds and rain showers. Temperatures just above the surface will be cold, so it won't be out of the question that the higher elevations see some flurries or brief snow showers. No snow accumulation is expected at this time, though I'll keep a very close watch on this little system. Its fast speed and lack of moisture should make this merely something to "wave" as it passes by. (OK, that was a lame attempt at meteorological humor. All apologies.)

The remainder of the forecast will be quiet and sunny. There may be a few extra clouds on Saturday as a weak system passes through but no precipitation is expected at this time. You'll notice a drop in our temperatures by the end of the weekend as we undergo a pattern shift. This new pattern will unlock the cold, Arctic air and allow it to move down into the United States. The end result will be temperatures /below/ our seasonal normals, which are in the upper 40s.

In the words of Justin Timberlane, looks like Mother Nature's "bringing winter back"...
