Weather Words: February 9

All's calm for now, but get ready for a big cooldown this weekend.

Happy Thursday, everyone!

A few clouds this morning will erode away as high pressure to our west pushes drier air into the region. It won't take long for skies to turn sunny, and we'll carry the sunshine through the afternoon. Temperatures will rise to the upper 40s, which is very close to our seasonal normals.

Our weather will stay quiet through Friday afternoon. Clouds will thicken into Friday evening as a cold front approaches the area. This front may lead to some scattered rain and snow showers overnight into early Saturday morning, but no snow accumulation is expected at this time. Cold air behind this front will bring temperatures WAY down for the coming weekend. By Sunday afternoon, daytime temperatures will only be in the 30s.

I know a lot of kids were disappointed in the lack of snow yesterday, hoping for a snow day today. Still doesn't look like we're in for any big storms in the next seven days. Though that may not be a desirable forecast for some people, look at it this way, kids: you won't have to make up any snow days and go to school in the middle of June...

3, 2, 1, fade out.
