Weather Words: March 13

Back on track after a few days off!

What's happening?

Lots of quick blurbs today about the weather, so don't expect a lot of structure to this post. Highs today, tomorrow, and Thursday will be near 80 degrees. That's roughly 25 degrees above normal. Despite the warmth, we won't break any record highs over the next few days. Here are the records:

March 13: 85°/1990

March 14: 86°/1990

March 15: 85°/1945

And just think... nineteen years ago today we were shoveling snow left behind in what would be called the Blizzard of 1993. A map showing how much snow fell across the Mid-Atlantic can be found here.

One more note... tree pollen counts: they're going to be high today. Even though we had some showers last night to help knock levels down, breezy conditions will help swirl the particles around through this afternoon. This is the price we pay for such a mild winter!
