What's up, everyone?
Took a few days off to clear the head, now it's back to the world of weather - and some very dynamic weather between now and the midweek. High pressure in charge of our skies will keep us sunny through Wednesday afternoon, but our temperatures will be all over the place. Highs today will be near 70, tomorrow in the 50s, then upper 70s on Wednesday. A freeze watch will be in place tonight,. highlighting the potential for temperatures below freezing for several hours that may prove damaging to crops and tender vegetation.
Rain showers late Wednesday night will lead to more consistent temperatures for Thursday, Friday, and Saturday. While daytime highs will be in the mid to upper 60s and cooler than recent weeks, they'll still be well above normal for this time of year. Rainfall-wise, we're in great shape after this weekend which saw more rain than in the entire month of February. We now have a rainfall surplus for the year of a third of an inch.
One final note in closing, and it comes on a very somber note. A friend and fellow meteorologist, Ken Reeves, lost his life far too early at the age of 50 this past weekend. I got to know Ken while my old TV station and AccuWeather were partnered together for a number of years. Ken was a very positive, fun, and genuine person, and always took the time to engage in conversation no matter what was going on around him. Being young and new to the business, he was very encouraging and always told me to keep my chin up. I speak for many by saying his passing is a huge loss to not only the AccuWeather family and his family, but to the meteorological community and to those who had the pleasure of knowing him. And I'm glad I did. Rest in peace, Ken. Thanks for all of the advice over the years. You will be greatly missed.
3, 2, 1, fade out.
