Community counts give you a chance to help you learn more about the people and the organizations that have a positive impact on our community.
Joining CBS19 this week for Community Counts is WorkSource Enterprises President, Chuck McElroy.
WorkSource was founded in 1967 by a group of parents who were concerned about lack of job opportunities for their adult children with disabilities.
WorkSource serves approximately 425 citizens with disabilities in the City of Charlottesville and Albemarle, Fluvanna, Greene, Louisa & Nelson counties, most of which have a cognitive or intellectual disability.
WorkSource owns and operates several small businesses, including BreakWorks, to carry out its mission of providing job training and employment to persons with disabilities.
While WorkSource relies on fees-for-services and public support, over 50% of WorkSource’s operating budget is generated by commercial activities, i.e., assembly/packaging, janitorial services & BreadWorks.
