Community Counts gives you a chance to help you learn more about the people and the organizations that have a positive impact on our community. This week we feature the Charlottesville Fire Corps and the Virginia Burn Camp.
Melissa Poelling joined CBS19's Bo Sykes to talk about the Fire Corps and their upcoming benefit for the Virginia Burn Camp. The event will be on Sunday, October 4 from 12pm to 4pm at the Carver Rec Center in Charlottesville. The event will include firetruck races for small scale models, a moonbounce, face painters, and jugglers. There will also be food provided by Belmont BBQ and Timberwood Grill.
The Charlottesville Fire Corps was created to create opportunities for citizens to give back to their community by providing non-emergency assistance to their local fire department.
The Virginia Burn Camp is a summer camp program that is staffed by volunteers from around the state to provide children ages 7-17 who have been hospitalized for burn related injuries a traditional camp experience. The summer camp program is free and lots of fun for the volunteers and the campers alike.
