Community Counts gives you a chance to help you learn more about the people and the organizations that have a positive impact on our community. This week we feature the Blue Ridge Area Food Bank and their annual Stuff A Truck event.
Kevin Ruddle, Branch Manager for the Charlottesville Branch of the Blue Ridge Area Food Bank, joined CBS19's Bo Sykes to talk more about the event and the food bank.
The "Stuff A Truck" event is a fun way to help the hungry for the holidays. While dropping off non-perishable food items, families can enjoy storytelling, a Santa visit for the children, and performances from local talent. Stuff A Truck is a 12-hour event is sponsored by Giant, Monticello Media and the Charlottesville Newsplex.
Most needed food items include: Peanut butter, canned fruits and vegetables, pasta, cereal, canned meats (like tuna, chicken, and chili), and 100% juice.
For a complete list, visit the Blue Ridge Area Food Bank website. Organizers will also provide shopping lists at the event for customers to use as they shop in Giant.
