Community Counts gives you a chance to help you learn more about the people and the organizations that have a positive impact on our community. This week we feature the Charlottesville Big Gig 2010.
Diane Krehmeyer, chairperson of The Big Gig, joined CBS19's Bo Sykes to talk more about The Big Gig, which benefits the local Boys & Girls Club chapter.
The Big Gig is the annual marquee gala fundraiser for the Boys & Girls Clubs of Central Virginia. This event alone raises 20% of the group's $1 million operating budget every year, and brings a significant portion of the community together in support of the Club's mission: To enable all young people, especially those who need us most, to reach their full potential as productive, caring, responsible citizens.
The Big Gig 2010 will be Saturday, March 27 at the John Paul Jones Arena. The theme is Safari Nights, and will include music, entertainment and silent and live auctions.
