Community Counts gives you a chance to learn more about the people and the organizations that have a positive impact on our community. This week we feature the local chapter of the Multiple Sclerosis Society and its Bike MS Tour de Vine.
Shannon Tevendale joined CBS19's Bo Sykes to talk more about the event, which is in its 22nd year. Organizers are expecting over 600 participants and 200 volunteers.
The Tour de Vine will be Saturday and Sunday, June 12-13. There will be 25, 50, 75 and 100-mile route options each day. Courses loop around Albemarle County, and there will be a festival with music and wine tasting afterward.
Participants raise money on their own, and each person is required to raise at least $250. Organizers are hoping to raise $350,000 total during the 2010 event.
