Community Counts gives you a chance to learn more about the people and the organizations that have a positive impact on our community. This week we feature the United Way Day of Caring.
Shaele Wood, of the United Way Thomas Jefferson Area, joined CBS19's Bo Sykes to talk more about the Day of Caring, which is on September 22.
The 19th annual United Way Day of Caring involves local businesses whose employees volunteer for a full day or half day at local non-profits and schools.
The United Way expects around 2,500 people to participate in this year's event, so organizers are actively looking for non-profit agencies and schools to submit projects for volunteers to complete during the Day of Caring. The United Way will be accepting project submissions for another week or two.
Anyone interested in volunteering or submitting a project can visit the Day of Caring website for more details and registration information.
