Community Counts gives you a chance to learn more about the people and the organizations that have a positive impact on our community. This week we feature the inaugural Wounded Warrior 5K.
Susan Wilkinson joined CBS19's Bo Sykes to talk more about the event, which is co-sponsored by the University of Virginia Health Foundation and The Charlottesville Running Company and benefits the Wounded Warrior Project.
The on and off-road event will be held June 4 at the University of Virginia Research Park. One hundred percent of the race's proceeds will benefit the Wounded Warrior Project, which provides programs and services to severely injured service members during the time between active duty and transition to civilian life.
Information and registration can be found online. There will also be a kick-off event at Innovations Cafe at the North Research Park on March 9 from 5pm to 7pm.
