Community Counts gives you a chance to learn more about the people and the organizations that have a positive impact on our community. This week we're featuring an effort called Building Goodness in April.
Robert Murphy joined CBS19's Bo Sykes to talk more about the initiative, which is a partnership between students at the University of Virginia's Darden School of Business and the Building Goodness Foundation.
Building Goodness in April (BGiA) was founded as Christmas in April-Charlottesville in 1991. In 2007, a name and organization affiliation change was made to ensure that the Charlottesville community benefited as much as possible from the efforts of this organization.
Every year in April, BGiA volunteers rehabilitate homes in the Charlottesville community, with a mission of rehabilitating the homes of low-income, elderly and disabled families. They strive to achieve this sustainable impact by partnering with individuals and businesses in the local community.
