VNB Community Counts: Dolley Madison at Montpelier

June 17, 2011

Community Counts gives you a chance to learn more about the people and the organizations that have a positive impact on our community. This week we feature the Dolley Madison exhibit at Montpelier.

Michael Quinn joined CBS19's Bo Sykes to talk more about the exhibit, which is included with the purchase of a regular admission ticket.

Visitors can view the fascinating life of First Lady Dolley Madison through the exhibit created for the PBS "American Experience" series.

The eight gown designs, exhibited on the mansion's second floor, reveal Dolley's life from her humble beginnings as a young Quaker woman in Philadelphia to the Nation's First Lady. Visitors will see an insider's view of the design of the period gowns through fashion plates from Dolley Madison's time, modern sketches of the costumes, and a video clip that shows the making of one of the dresses.
