Community Counts gives you a chance to learn more about the people and the organizations that have a positive impact on our community. This week we feature the FOCUS Women's Resource Center in Charlottesville.
Jennie Shuklis joined CBS19's Stephanie Satchell to talk more about the center, which was started in the early 1970's by a group of community leaders who had a vision of empowering women.
FOCUS is a private, non-profit serving the needs of women and families through things like micro-loans, youth services, legal and financial advice. The center's vision is a community in which every woman achieves her full potential.
FOCUS is always happy to accept donations at its main office at 953 Second Street SE. However, people interested in helping the center can also do so by shopping at the FOCUS Flea at 617 West Main in the Old Albemarle Hotel.
More information can be found on the FOCUS website.
