Community Counts gives you a chance to learn more about the people and the organizations that have a positive impact on our community. This week we feature the Let Someone Fill Your Shoes campaign.
Dr. Bryan Snyder joined CBS19's Bo Sykes to talk more about the program, in which local podiatrists help collect usable men's and women's shoes for the homeless population in our community.
The Let Someone Fill Your Shoes Campaign is an annual campaign that is now in its 20th year. Over the years, the program has collected 80,000 pairs of shoes. They do not need to be brand new, but the program does look for certain qualities in the footwear they collect.
Drop off locations include: All Charlottesville Fashion Square Shoe Stores, Aldersgate United Methodist Church, ACAC, Broadus Wood Elementary, Buford Middle School, Charlottesville Ballet, The Covenant School, UVa Department of General Medicine, Dominion Power, Farmington Country Club, Grymes Memorial School, Jack Jouett Middle School, Martha Jefferson Hospital, Meriwether Lewis Elementary, Nationwide Insurance, Our Lady of Peace, Peabody School, Ragged Mountain Running Shop, Richey & Company, Sperry Marine, Stony Point Elementary, Sutherland Middle School, Temple Beth Israel, Venable Elementary School, Virginia Discovery Museum, Virginia Murray Elementary, Walker Upper Elementary.
The shoes will be distributed to the homeless in our community on Saturday, Feb. 12.
