Community Counts gives you a chance to learn more about the people and the organizations that have a positive impact on our community. This week we feature Masquerade 2010.
Masquerade Event Chair, Sarah Heid, joined CBS19's Bo Sykes to talk more about the 2nd annual event, which takes place on October 28 at the Jefferson Theater.
Masquerade 2010 benefits the Literacy Volunteers of Charlottesville/Albemarle, which is the only agency offering free, confidential, one-on-one tutoring to the over 9,000 illiterate adults in the local community.
The event will feature the ACME Swing Mfg. Co. (playing from 7:30 – 10:30pm) along with professional swing dancers to teach you the steps in the crowd. Entertainment also includes a late-night dance party hosted by DJ Brad Savage, from 106.1 The Corner, playing Halloween classics and top hits from the 80’s, 90’s, (10:45pm – 1am).
Literary costumes or a mask and cocktail attire encouraged.
There are two ticket options are available. $50 includes unlimited food a drink until 10:30pm, or come for the late-night dance party starting at 10:30pm for just $15 (cash bar after 10:30pm).
