Community Counts gives you a chance to learn more about the people and the organizations that have a positive impact on our community. This week we feature The Chandler Law Group's Safe Ride Home program.
CBS19's Bo Sykes sat down with Dolores Tingley to talk more about the program, which is in its 21st year.
Anyone needing a Safe Ride Home on New Year's Eve should call Yellow Cab in Charlottesville at 295-4131 and ask for a Safe Ride Home, and the law firm will pay the cab fare within a 10 mile radius of the city.
The purpose of the Safe Ride Home campaign is to make the holiday season a safer one for the community. Since its beginning in 1990, the law firm has provided approximately 63,000 Safe Rides Home thus lowering the number of impaired drivers on the road.
To receive a Safe Ride Home, callers must call a participating cab company and mention either The Chandler Law Group or the Safe Ride Home campaign. The law firm will not pay cab fares to another bar or restaurant type establishment.
For more information about the Safe Ride Home campaign, call (434) 971-7273.
