Community Counts gives you a chance to learn more about the people and the organizations that have a positive impact on our community. This week we feature the Greene County Sheriff's Office self defense training program.
Major Randall Snead joined CBS19's Bo Sykes to talk more about the program, which will be offered to the women of Greene County and surrounding areas.
The Greene County Sheriff's Office is partnering with the Sexual Assault Resource Agency to provide the training classes.
Maj. Snead says participants will learn self-confidence and some physical defense maneuvers. The program has been broken down into three 3-hour night classes.
The first set of classes took place in early February, however Maj. Snead says more will be available in the summer and fall. The program is free to the public, although the Sheriff's Office does accept monetary donations to be presented to SARA.
Information on future classes will be posted on the Greene County Sheriff's Office website.
