Community Counts gives you a chance to learn more about the people and the organizations that have a positive impact on our community. This week we feature Taste This! 2011.
Victor Millner joined CBS19's Bo Sykes to talk more about the event, which takes place Tuesday, June 14.
Taste This began in the 1980s as an event called Taste of the Nation. The event ran under that name until 2005. After a year hiatus, it was revived under the name Taste This! The largest difference between the new event and the old is that 100 percent of the money raised from the event benefits local hunger relief organizations.
Beneficiaries in 2011 include Meals on Wheels, The Salvation Army Soup Kitchen and the Emergency Food Bank.
Organizers estimate that Taste This has raised more than $300,000 for local hunger relief efforts.
Tickets are available for $40 at Market Street Wineshop (Uptown and Downtown locations), Greenberry's and Sticks Kebob Shop (Pantops).
