Community Counts gives you a chance to learn more about the people and the organizations that have a positive impact on our community. This week we feature the annual Toy Lift.
Dave Farfara joined CBS19's Bo Sykes to talk more about the Toy Lift, which will be held at the corner of Hydraulic Road and Route 29 on Friday, Dec. 3.
The Toy Lift is the signature event of the Kids Lift Foundation. It began in 1988 when founder Tom Powell decided to perch himself eighty feet up in a bucket truck at the corner of Hydraulic and Route 29. He stayed there until people donated 1,000 toys, which he then distributed to local children.
Nineteen years later, Toy Lift has grown into a huge annual community event with food, and raising over 17,000 toys.
