Community Counts gives you a chance to learn more about the people and the organizations that have a positive impact on our community. This week we feature the Virginia to Africa Fundraiser.
Jim Perkins joined CBS19's Bo Sykes to talk more about the event, which is hosted by the Piedmont Rotary Council (comprised of Rotary Club of Charlottesville, Blue Ridge Mountains Rotary Club, and the Albemarle County Rotary Club).
The council partnered with the Water and Health in Limpopo (WHIL) collaborative of the University of Virginia and University of Venda to bring clean water and sanitation to Tlhophane School in the Northwest Province of South Africa.
The fundraising goal for the Piedmont Council is $30,000 with the anticipation of matching funds from Rotary International Foundation and its Future Visions Project Funds for an overall project goal of $50,000.
The big fundraising event will be a silent auction and dinner on Friday, Mar. 2 at the Farmington Country Club. For more information on Virginia to Africa, click here.
