Friday evening Habitat for Humanity of Greater Charlottesville held an event called "Artwork 4 Humanity."

Local artists donated pieces of their original artwork and then 75 habitat families were able to drop by and pick up a free piece of work.

Organizers tell us artwork is a way for these families to turn their new habitat house into a home.

"When we move into our houses, we turn them into homes. One of the ways we do that is through the arts. So having the arts in the hones helps habitat say that we are into more than just building houses, we are into changing lives," said Tim Bowring, Development Director for Habitat.

Organizers say both smiles and tears of joy were shared at today's event.
