Albemarle County Police have begun preparations for the Foxfield Races on Saturday, April 27. They say that if you don't have to be in the area, stay away.

Police will be directing traffic in the area and warn that Garth Road, Barracks Road, Owensville Road, and others nearby will be likely be clogged.

They also say that it shouldn't let up through the day, between late arrivals and people leaving the event early.

According the Albemarle Police Spokesperson Carter Johnson, traffic isn't the only concern for the Department.

"We're working with a lot of different resources to make sure we can do everything we can to plan in advance" says Johnson. "To make sure everyone who is participating and is a spectator can enjoy a safe Foxfield experience."

The annual community staple always draws a crowd and this year is no different. Police expect between 15 and 25 thousand people.
