Thousands made their way out to the Foxfield Races on April 27, but a bus from Richmond almost didn't make it.

"We had a blow out, not just a flat tire, a complete blow out" says Kathryn McCollough, who was on the bus.

"We found things to do." said McCollough. "We are having fun playing cornhole. Same thing we would be doing if we were already there at the fields"

Fortunately a replacement tire was brought and only after an hour delay, the bus got on its way.

Police helped direct the massive amount of traffic going into the event this morning, but it was a long wait anyways.

Once inside, however, the fields teemed with people in big hats, pastels, dresses and other Foxfield staples.

"Literally everyone is here" remarked one young lady.

"Its a great annual tradition." says Mike Lubosh, a six year veteran of the races. "Seeing a lot of friends come back into town, a lot of times people you haven't seen since college."

Unlike years before, the nice weather held throughout the day.

"Last year it was raining and people still had a great time, they just put on rain jackets" said Martina Wilson, who has been coming for the past three years. "I brought rain boots just in case, you can't really predict the weather here."

No one said it better than Deborah Wilson, an English woman and Foxfield first timer. "A beautiful day, wonderful horses, great camaraderie with our pals, and we're having a fun time.
