A fundraising hike on Saturday is helping a women's program of Habitat for Humanity.
The seventh-annual Hike for Habitat took place Saturday afternoon. Women with Habitat's Women Build group hiked several different trails all over Central Virginia as part of the fundraiser.
The day was capped off with music, food and wine at the Habitat's Sunrise Park Community Center in Charlottesville.
"It's just amazing to be a part of this, to get my home and to help other people get theirs," said Sheron Sinclair, a Habitat partner family.
The group says one of the best parts of the program is working beside the homeowner as they build the new house.
"They're slinging the hammer at their home, so they put in sweat equity, hundreds of hours of sweat equity for their home," Women Build member Kathy Ball said.
The money raised will go toward Women Build's 10th home.
