The local visitors bureau is trying to help get the word out about money available to groups looking to host new festivals and cultural events in Central Virginia.
The Charlottesville-Albemarle Convention and Visitors Bureau is hosting an information session this Wednesday for groups interested in getting funding. The visitors bureau helps put on events like the Virginia Film Festival and the Look3 Photo Festival on the Downtown Mall.
The goal is to help with funding for new events so Charlottesville can continue to grow in tourism opportunities.
"An extra $2,000, $3,000 or $4,000 can make a big difference leveraging those funds against what they already have in marketing," said Kurt Burkhart, executive director of the CACVB. "And of course we ask organizations to provide us with a budget. Tell us what other revenue sources and sponsorships that you have coming to the table, so that we can be an equal partner in helping you achieve success."
The information session will be held at CitySpace on the Downtown Mall on Wednesday, July 9, from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m.
