For many women, strength training is an integral part of their fitness routine. Yet even with dozens of lunges, squats and curls, there is still a muscle group that many women overlook, especially after the birth of a child.
Joining us Wednesday for this week's Martha Jefferson Healthwise is physical therapist Elizabeth Poole to talk about the benefits for new moms of keeping pelvic floor muscles strong.
In her interview, Poole described what are the pelvic floor muscles, and what role they play in overall health. She also discussed how a pregnancy affects the muscles and some resources for women who want to learn more about toning their pelvic floor muscles.
