Martha Jefferson Hospital recently received a prestigious honor. The award is given to recognize the high standards of quality of care for patients, as well as nursing leadership and professional models of care. Dr. Michael Ashby from Martha Jefferson came to the studio to explain the award.
It is called the Magnet Accreditation from the American Nurses Credentialing Center. This award is only given to about 4% of hospitals around the country. Martha Jefferson is the first independent community hospital in the state to receive this award. This is very significant because it shows how hard Martha Jefferson's nurses work and care. It now allows the hospital to recruit and retain nurses better, and indicates the high level of care that patients receive when they come to Martha Jefferson.
