Wendell Golden is training for the big race. He's 85 years old but that's not keeping him from running in the 15th annual Martha Jefferson Hospital 8K run & 4K walk.
“I'm older and I'm slower but that's alright as long as I keep moving,” he said.
Moving is not a problem for Golden. He's been a part of the race for nearly a decade, raising money for what he says is a good cause.
“Helping children and helping people in different ways is very important,” he explained.
On March 12, Golden and runners from all over Central Virginia will take to the streets of Downtown Charlottesville, donating money to benefit the Martha Jefferson Cancer Care Center.
“I just feel I make a little contribution just being there and doing my best,” said Golden.
The Martha Jefferson Foundation is hoping everyone will lace up their shoes to help raise money with every step they take. The 8K run & 4K walk course starts at the Martha Jefferson Education Center and weaves through town. For more information check out the race website.
