Martha Jefferson Healthwise: CPR Class

Feb. 12, 2014

Martha Jefferson Hospital is giving people an opportunity to learn CPR for free.

The Friends and Family CPR class is a basic level CPR course. Participants will get a kit which includes a mannequin and DVD.

During the course, students will watch the DVD and instructors will help them practice each skill on the mannequin.

People in the class will also learn how to do chest compressions, give breaths to someone who's not breathing and how to help someone if they're choking.

These are all skills healthcare providers say everybody should know.

"You never know when something is going to happen where you could potentially increase the chances of saving somebody's life whether it's a child choking that you see on the playground or somebody suffering from cardiac arrest walking in the mall," said Tracey Hill, Exercise Technologist, Martha Jefferson Health and Wellness.
