Martha Jefferson Healthwise: Free Screenings

Free health screenings are being offered as part of a new health initiative at Martha Jefferson Hospital.

The program aims to improve the health of families who live near the new Jefferson School City Center.

The screenings will look for warning signs of health issues, such as high blood pressure and diabetes, so they can be solved before they get worse.

"When they come in they get a personal consultation with our nurse practitioner," said Community Benefits Director Jacklene Martin. "She is checking blood sugar, blood pressure, checking body mass index, and they leave here with a plan for improving their health"

While the screenings are geared towards pregnant women and teenagers, anyone is welcomed.
