Community Counts gives you a chance to learn more about the people and the organizations that have a positive impact on our community. This week we feature the United Way - Thomas Jefferson Area.
Liza Borches joined CBS19's Bo Sykes to discuss some changes coming to the United Way this year. The organization has usually helped basic human service needs through annual grants, but they've changed strategic directions for 2012.
The grant-making will focus in three impact areas in which our community has lagged behind the nation. Those are:
1) School readiness
2) Self-sufficiency
3) Community health
