The Covenant offense got off to a quick start Friday at Liberty Christian, scoring the first touchdown of the game in the first quarter on a touchdown pass from Lee Coppock to Chris Shifflett.
After a blocked punt put the Bulldogs on the Covenant 5-yard line, Cody Underwood took the carry around the corner and into the endzone. Tack on a 2-point conversion and the score is 8-7 LCA.
Still in the first quarter, Lee Coppock found Samuel Patterson streaking across the middle of the field and Patterson tip-toed the sideline for an Eagles touchdown. Covenant regained the lead 14-8.
Early in the second quarter, the Bulldogs would tie the game on a 1-yard touchdown run by QB Seth Good; the extra point gave LCA the lead once again, 15-14. However, Covenant would retake the lead, 17-15, on a 30-yard field goal.
But it would be all Bulldogs from that point on. Liberty Christian rolled of 42-straight points to win the game going away, 57-17. Covenant (2-2) hosts Blue Ridge (2-1) next Friday.
