Covenant and Saint Anne's Belfield both have fallen short of what each team had hoped to accomplish at the beginning of the season, and as the 2009 campaign winds down, are both looking for late season runs. Friday the Eagles and Saints will renew their cross-town rivalry at STAB's home field.
Covenant enters the contest with a 3-4 record. The Eagles fell to Virginia Episcopal their last time out, 40-32. It marked the first win of the year for VES, as Covenant was playing its second game in five days. The Eagles will have two games remaining following Friday night's contest.
Saint Anne's Belfield is 2-4 on the year and fell to Collegiate in its last contest. The Saints can finish no better than .500 in the regular season, as they only have one game remaining after their contest with the Eagles.
STAB has owned this series as of late, including last season, when the Saints topped their cross-town rivals twice, once in the regular season, and then again in the state semifinals.
