'Evan Almighty' director, Tom Shadyac, holds special premiere of movie for local residents at The Paramount.
Over 900 tickets were available for Thursday's premiere.
Invited guests included Charlottesville City Councilors and officials from the University of Virginia.
We talked to many people who were at the sneak peek about what they thought about the movie.
"It's totally unlike anything you've ever seen before. They definitely did an amazing job of sort of weaving together very biblical themes in a very modern stage. Making it very meaningful," said Corbin Klug.
Tom Shadyac is a UVA Alum and said the decision to film parts of this movie in Central Virginia was a no-brainer.
He also said he felt the need to give back to the community that gave so much to him.
He gives recognition to a librarian in Crozet who looked out for him years ago.
"She gave me books when she didn't know who I was or if I was ever going to ever bring them back. It was just a random act of kindness, which is what our movie is about," said Shadyac.
Proceeds from the movie will go towards two local charities.
Evan Almighty opens nationwide June 22nd.
