WWE Wrestler And Family Found Dead In Murder Suicide

June 26, 2007

WWE wrestler Chris Benoit, his wife, and 7-year-old son, were found dead at their Georgia home Monday afternoon in an apparent murder suicide.

The pro wrestler canceled a pay per view appearance at a "Vengeance" event in Houston a day before he and his family were found. A law enforcement official says that Benoit strangeled his wife, and smothered his son before hanging himself in the weight room at his home.

Authorities are investigating the deaths as a murder suicide and at this time are not seeking any suspects. Investigators say they believe Benoit killed his 43-year-old wife Nancy, and 7-year-old son Daniel during the weekend and then himself Monday.

The bodies were found in three separate rooms of the house, off a gravle road, about two miles from the Whitewater Country Club.

Authorities are also not saying whether or not any drugs or steroids were found at the home. Toxicology tests could take up to a week of longer to complete.
