Musical Group Helps Fellow Musicians with Health Care Costs

September 24, 2012

The group Central Virginia Health Alliance for Musicians (CVHAM) is one of our areas most beloved musicians and their music is helping them with a very important project.

Over the years, the group of talented friends has played at countless benefit concerts to help with medical bills when one of their own became ill. Recently the group founded the Central Virginia Health Alliance for Musicians. The group helps uninsured professional musicians in the Central Virginia area pay for health care services.

“Guys spend their whole life playing and giving their hearts to do this and they're coming down sick and they're dying and they don't even know what from because they couldn't afford to go to the doctor,” said Randy Olson, Co-founder of CVHAM.

These artists are now playing benefits to fund grants that will go to health care providers.

“We need for these musicians who work hard and are working constantly and give us so much joy but do not earn enough money to be able to pay for insurance they need to be able to access health care,” said Palma Pustilnik, Board Member of CVHAM.

The musicians will kick off their music fest on Saturday, October 27. It will be held at the Fry’s Springs Beach Club from noon until 1:30 am.
