Lyrics Opera Virginia is presenting its version of the famous opera Carmen. Carmen is a romantic tale of a soldier and a gypsy named Carmen. The opera was composed by George Bizet.

The performers will be presenting a shorter version of Carmen at the Paramount Theater in Charlottesville.

“We’re doing a very special jewel box production of Carmen. It’s all in a 90 minute arc. You’ll get the full story with all of the sensational music, which is so familiar to everyone but with much more intensity,” said Peter Mark, Artistic Director of Lyric Opera Virginia.

Their first performance is May 11 at 8:00 pm and their last performance is May 13 at 2:30 pm. Performers hope to bring in young audiences and hope they appreciate the art form.
