The Paramount Theater once again rolled out the red carpet for another successful Oscar Night America party this year. More than 400 people walked the red carpet on Sunday, Feb. 26 to watch the 84th Academy Awards on the theater's HD screen.
The Charlottesville event, one of only 50 parties across the country officially sanctioned by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, helped to raise more than $35,000 for the upcoming 25th Anniversary of the Virginia Film Festival.
“It is clear that now, after this third annual event, Oscar Night America is a big hit for our attendees and business partners alike,” said Virginia Film Festival Director Jody Kielbasa. “We were delighted with the turnout as well as with the growing list of local businesses that have joined us in making this an annual evening to remember for local film lovers. And given that this year was a benefit for our upcoming 25th Anniversary, we are particularly gratified with the support we received, and look forward to repaying that support with an outstanding year to come.”
Charlottesville’s Oscar Night America party was presented by Virginia National Bank with additional support provided by the Presenting Media Sponsor Charlottesville Newsplex WVAW ABC16, and Special Media Partners C-ville Weekly, 1070 WINA Newsradio, 106.1 The Corner and Lite Rock Z95.1.
Charlottesville Newsplex’s Tara Wheeler and Dan Schutte, along with Charlottesville Radio Group’s Jay James and Les Sinclair, entertained the crowd as emcees of Charlottesville’s broadcast.
